Hee Il,

it seems the PPC architecture was only supported for the GNU  
compilers.  I have updated the timer detection (which I take from the  
FFTW project, by the way -- many thanks to them), and it should now  
know about the IBM compilers as well.  Please update Carpet and try  
again.
