[Carpet] improve Carpet commit messages from git ?

Hi Erik,

I think the commit messages from git pushes to the master Carpet 
repository aren't very user-friendly. With only the commit ids in the 
subject line, searching the archives (eg. in 
http://lists.carpetcode.org/archives/carpet-darcs/2008-March/thread.html) 
is rather difficult and cumbersome now.

Do you think we can install some small script on the git server which 
would modify the sent out messages ?
