If I read you schedule.ccl correctly, then the variable AH_ever_found  
should indeed always have storage, certainly at basegrid and later  
times.  You can also use the option "Carpet::enable_all_storage=yes"  
to emphasise this.  My best guess is that there is an error in the  
code overwriting some memory.
