[Carpet] regridding?

How expensive is regridding when called, but with no actual pending 
regrid-requests?

Namely, if I set 

regrid_every > 0

but for most of the simulation I am not asking for any changes in the grid, 
would calles to the CarpetRegrid be much more than a no-op?
