[Carpet] error in aix

I assumed at first that the compiler had a problem with automatic  
template instantiation.  (This is assuming that you use the IBM  
compilers, which you didn't say.)  But the online documentation  
suggests that the compiler's defaults are correct.

If you tell me the machine on which you have problems and the  
compiler version that you are using and the Cactus configuration  
options that you specified, then I may be convinced to have another  
look.  In the future, it would be nice if you included such  
information without having to be asked explicitly.  (If you want to  
make things convenient for me, you can put that information into a  
Carpet bug report.  Thank you.)
